Everyone in town loved Mike and his dog, Lewie.
Mike was a trusted, loyal friend to many and he
truly loved doing business in North Haven. Mike
was a hard worker. He had been working since 16,
beginning with Mike’s Automotive on Maple Avenue.
Then owner, Mike Pomichter, taught him the trade.
Mike always said he was mentored by the best.
Shortly after high school, Mike joined the Operating
Engineers Union and spent five years working on pay
loaders and other large equipment. While the pay
was good, Mike missed the automotive business and
mainly, the interaction with people. When the shop
on Clintonville Road became available, Mike bought
it and was busy from the first week, developing a
relationship with everyone in town, always there to
donate or sponsor local charities.
On a very sad day for North Haven, we lost Mike. In
a sign of love and respect, tow trucks made up the
majority of his funeral procession and hundreds of
friends, colleagues and family paid their respect to
the man who meant so much to so many.
“Mike was a special guy,” says his friend Ron Iannucci,
who drove the tow truck that carried Mike that sad
day. “He had a great attitude. He loved life. He got
the most pleasure when he was helping people. He
will be missed.”
Today, his fiancée Heather runs the business, with the
help of everyone who loved him. Heather’s goal is
to carry on his legacy and keep the business home-
town friendly, just like Mike did.
