                                            IDENTIFICATION OF BUTTERFLIES:
 ARE BUTTERFLIES GOOD  Most of us can recognize the beautiful Monarchs, but look carefully so you can confirm it is a Monarch and not the smaller,
 POLLINATORS?       look-alike Viceroy. The Viceroy is distinguished by the black horizontal line near the base of the hind wing.













            Male Monarch – look for small black dots on hind wings.  Viceroy – look for black horizontal line on hind wing.
             You can also identify the gender of the Monarch if you look at the hind wings. The male Monarch has a black dot on each of
                                          the hind wings. The females do not have these dots.
