                                                               with Center School teacher and later principal, Mildred
                                                               Wakeley (1903-1981). While a quarter century apart in age,
                                                               the two women had a close bond, being neighbors on Clin-
                                                               tonville Road. Miss Wakeley let Eva take charge of music at
                                                               Center School for graduation ceremonies. It seems that Eva
                                                               bequeathed her house to Mildred after her death in 1956.

                                                               Eva was also an avid collector of music related ephemera.
                                                               In 1938, she donated her entire collection to the Bradley Li-
                                                               brary Association. This included photographs of famous mu-
                                                               sicians, an 18th-century rosewood pitch pipe, and her grand-
                                                               father’s Carhartt melodeon.
                                                               A composer, musician, teacher, and collector: what else could
                                                               Eva do? For starters, Eva fought for women’s voting rights in
