          COLLECTING
The Baseball Card Collecting Industry stared as a tool to sell base-
ball equipment peaking in August, 2022 with the record sale of a
1952 Mickey Mantle baseball card for $12.6 million. Now a mul-
timillion-dollar industry, it had a humble beginning. And our small
town of North Haven has the perfect place to start your hobby or
add to your collection, DJ Comics run by our own Dave Yaccarino.
When asked “why” sports cards, he replied “I’ve always have had
a love for sports and especially baseball. In the early 90’s I taught
history of baseball courses and the history of the United States
through the history of Baseball, 1849-1949 at Gateway college.
I learned so much about our history along with the beginning of
baseball/tobacco cards starting in 1887. Then when I started DJ’s
my parents were very supportive after so many people thought it
was a crazy decision opening my new/ different type of business.
I had support. My Mom and Dad were always encouraging. And
such a major help with DJ’s. The customers loved my dad. Over the
years DJ’s has become a generational designation for families, it’s
so nice to see adults that come in with their children that came
here as children, I’ve always stressed to customers enjoy the hob-
by, learn from it! It’s such a joy being part of this wonderful com-
munity, all three of my kids worked at DJS at one point and I’ve
always had really good staff, I’m extremely fortunate”!

“And” he added North Haven has been a wonderful place to run
a business, the community is great, I met Mike Freda through the
store. Mike is an avid collector. Like so many of my customers over
the past 33 years, Mike and I have become great friends and I have
met some of my best friends at DJ’s. It’s an honor and pleasure
      running/owning DJ's for the past 33 years.

THANK YOU TO ALL OF OUR WONDERFUL CUSTOMERS!
Today, it’s the physical baseball cards that are still highly prized
among collectors in an industry that shows no signs of slowing
      down.
