Dear Readers,
I hope this letter finds you all healthy, safe and eager to read this latest issue.
When I wrote my last letter, I tried to show you a lighter side of my quarantine. Poking fun at
my eating my way through town, which, unfortunately I am still doing. But now, after being in
for another month, my experience has evolved. Loneliness and anxiety has eased up. I am
so thankful for everyone in town, like Nick, Michelle and Frank at Health Insurance Associates,
Rita from Stay At Home Care, David Frost, EVERYONE – that made it a point to check on me.
It was so appreciated and please don’t stop! I stopped watching so much news but realized
it wasn’t the sad news that made me cry, it was the happy news. Every time I heard “We are
in this together,” I cried. It’s like a constant Hallmark moment. I tried to keep busy. At Easter,
Jill DeChello Health Insurance Associates, and Stay at Home Care helped me deliver Easter Baskets to
Editor some children in town. Lauren was my Easter Bunny. Walgreens managers and staff were
so helpful, shopping for me for the baskets. I took online classes – Indian Food, the perfect
Bolognese sauce, spice blending. My Instacart shoppers, I call them my “Food Heroes”, searched for all my
needed ingredients, delivering them safely to my door. I was never one to eat left-overs, I do now. I learned to
value food more, or really the lack of its immediate availability. And, my biggest achievement – I finished and self-
published a book. See page 27.
As always, the generosity of North Haven residents amazed me (more crying). Jane Curruth, last issue’s “Where is
It” winner, donated the $100 to the Food Bank. Brian, from Welcome Home Mortgage added a $50 gift card to the
North Haven restaurant of their choice to this issue’s “Where is It” winners to help support the local restaurants.
And, the advertisers all wanted messages in their ads, messages of support for the Health Care Workers, our
town officials or simply a word of encouragement for the town. I am very proud to live in a town with so much
compassion and empathy for people.
Jill DeChello
Hope to see you soon around town!
