SUCCESS STORY
Dr. Sarah Mendillo
There’s a new vet in town and she’s here to
take care of all of your feline and canine
woes, no matter how small or large the
issue is!
Dr. Sarah Mendillo (O’Dell), 34, of North
Branford, CT, purchased Montowese Vet-
erinary Clinic on Quinnipiac Avenue in
August 2019, making her the youngest veterinary practice owner
in Connecticut! Dr. Mendillo has brought the clinic into a whole
new light. She has moved into practice ownership with a fresh
look that reflects her positive attitude and devotion to the daily
work she puts in. She is aimed to uphold the highest standard of
care for patients and her clients, focusing on progressive medicine
and low stress handling, while fitting together all of the puzzle
pieces of patient care.
Dr. Mendillo was born in Worces-
ter Massachusetts, but primarily grew
up in Branford, CT. Although she has
lived in 5 different states, and has trav-
eled the world helping animals in need,
Connecticut has always been “home”. In
2007 she graduated from Yale University,
where she completed her Bachelor’s de-
gree in Chemistry. She worked in clinical
research, nursing, and also as a veteri-
nary technician, prior to pursuing her
Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine, where
she found just the right balance of knowledge and hands-on chal-
lenges.
Dr. Mendillo graduated Summa Cum Laude from The Ohio State
University in 2015, and chose to utilize her degree in the practice
of General Practice Medicine. While she had the knowledge, tech-
nical and surgical skills to pursue specialty medicine, she chose to
come back to community medicine based on her love of devel-
oping client relationships and being able to provide the best, and
most advanced care to pets throughout their lives. She is consis-
tently acquiring new skills to advance her training.
With the purchase of Montowese Veterinary Clinic, she will con-
tinue to serve as a member-doctor hospital, on call emergency
surgeon, and will continue the long standing
association with Central Hospital for Veterinary Medicine. Dr.
Mendillo has been a part of the Central Hospital family for sev-
eral years beginning with surgical rotations while in veterinary
school. She most recently served as an Emergency Room veteri-
narian in both Guilford and North Haven prior to her return to
general practice.
Currently, Dr. Mendillo resides in North Branford, with her hus-
band, Blair, 4 dogs (Bosko, Deuce, Vespyr and Hiccup), 2 cats
(Maddox and Tesla), 2 Horses (Streak and Dani) and 6 chickens.
With empathy, sympathy, kindness, and compassion she will al-
ways seek to uphold and strengthen that bond between pets and
their families. Dr. Mendillo is very excited and proud to be the
new face of Montowese Veterinary Clinic and is looking forward
to meeting and becoming part of the local community through
forging new friendships and bonding her new and old clients and
patients.
Hope to see you and your fur-family soon!
