Hello Readers,
I stepped outside today and it was chilly – yes chilly! I am thrilled that Fall is around the corner. Summer
is so NOT my season. Long days, 90-degree heat, thunder and lightning storms and, of course, our little
town tornado. It knocked down my entire backyard tree coverage and now, I am visible to an entire
neighborhood that I hadn't seen in 25 years. Let me apologize to my (new) neighbors in advance for my
many “walking the dogs” jaunts in my pj’s. And, the storm took my dog, Tyson’s, favorite tree. He is so
confused. I know there was a ton of damage in our town and I hope everyone has made it through safe
and sound and your cleanup is completed or way on the way to completion.
And the Holidays begin. I love them all. Starting with Halloween right through Valentine’s Day. Halloween
has always been a favorite. Very different from “my day” where treat or treating in neighborhoods was
a standard. But I still love the costumes, the spooky movies that are on TV and, of course, the candy. I
always buy candy for Halloween. Haven’t had kids trick or treat in forever, but I still buy it and then eat
it. With life still so unpredictable, I wanted to plan something fun for Halloween. So, with the help of
MedicareCT.com and Stay at Home Care, as well as many others, I am doing “A Night at the Pumpkin
Patch” at The Landing of North Haven on Clintonville Road on October 23 and 24. A family fun drive
Jill DeChello though event to benefit the North Haven Rotary who give to so many worthwhile organizations in town.
Editor I NEED CARVERS both for the displays and a Pumpkin carving contest that is within the event. I can also
use corporate sponsors to assist in the cost of the event.
This would have been my third year doing The Magical Elf House, but with the restrictions, it just cannot
happen this year. BUT, at the end of November, I am planning The Magical Elf Garden at Bell’s Nursery.
How could you not visit an Elf Garden? It will be on Thanksgiving weekend and will benefit the Daytime
Gardeners. It really feels good to plan again.
So many people commented on the recipe last issue, we are again including a recipe in this issue. The
recipe is compliments of CT Chowder Company; a catering company now located in North Haven. We are
also including another “find the” Jack-O'-Lanterns in this issue.
I’ve been dining out more lately in the outside restaurants around town. I actually like the outside dining.
Especially for breakfast. So, if you see me, please stop me and say hello and give me your thoughts on
the magazine. And, my car is silver now, the trees squished my old one.
See you around town,
Jill DeChello Featured
