Hello Everyone,
I hope this letter finds you safe, happy and enjoying the summer. As you know, I am NOT
a summer lover but in this time of uncertainty, a little sunshine is welcome, just not the 90-degree
days! I have dined outside at many of our local restaurants and still marvel at the ingenuity of the
owners. Summer in North Haven makes everything seem a little brighter. The grass is so green
and the town is brimming with blooming flowers, thanks to our Garden Clubs. I love the pastel
bicycles all over town. Popcentric is open, a true sign Summer is here. If you haven’t been, visit
and try one of their new pops. Yum. And, of course, Dino’s. Fried seafood just tastes better in the
summer. This issue we are continuing with our hidden icon in the ads. Look for the eight Smiling
Suns in and win a $25 Dino’s gift card. And, for the first time, we are offering Margin messages.
There is one in this magazine to a very good friend.
Even with all that is happening in the world, I feel safe in our little town. I can guarantee
that big city residents didn’t get masks mailed to them. That level of care and concern is what
makes our leadership so unique and our town so special. Thank you to Mike Freda and the North
Haven Rotary, who, by the way, has a new President, Mark Lesage. Read about him in this issue.
And, this issue highlights a local ballerina, Shannon Cushing, who I made supply me with a tutu
photo. That’s as close to a Princess as you can get! And, if you did not notice, I have a new Editor’s
Jill DeChello picture. It was taken in his outside studio by photographer, David Frost, who I am forever thankful
Editor to for being so patient and making me so comfortable.
I know I go on and on about how special North Haven is, but to me, it’s my own little
Hallmark moment. I love that I feel like I know everyone in town, people are always so friendly and
I always feel welcome. I could not imagine living anywhere else – ever. So North Haven is stuck
with me. And, now I will say the words that make only me and my sister happy, “Winter is Coming.”
Enjoy the sun-filled days and, as always, stop me to say hello (from 6 feet away, of course), give me
your likes and dislikes on the North Haven Magazine Facebook page or write to me. I am always
Jill DeChello
happy for your comments.
